When we heard Green Day wanted to collaborate with 7-Eleven on a product, our teams jumped at the opportunity. The idea of having Green Day's own coffee brand, Punkbunny, in every 7-Eleven store? Awesome opportunity. But when we began to design out-of-home advertising, we were facing a looming question: How do you balance corporate sensibilities with "punk?"

How do you make gas station

coffee feel punk?

OVERVIEW

Project: Green Day x 7-Eleven Out of Home

Client: 7-Eleven

Date: July 2024

Team:

  • Dustin Hall - Concept, Art Direction

  • Michael Bakowski - Graphic Design

My manager, Anne Frey, suggested the idea to have a sudo 7-Eleven billboard that was almost being torn away to reveal the grittier Green Day billboard underneath. Anything with texture excites me so I jumped on the idea!

BIG CITY Layups

After the initial billboards were green-lit, we had a full spread of out-of-home plastering NYC and LA. Everything from taxi toppers and subway posters to 20' animated billboards and an entire exterior wall at Santa Monica Place
